BOARD OF DIRECTORS 2020-2021

Fran Cecere, President is a retired Master’s prepared Oncology Nurse originally from the Central New York area. Fifteen years ago she moved to Culpeper with her husband. For many years she has enjoyed writing for her family and friends. She has been the editor of the three different newsletters for her professional organizations. In addition, she has written nursing research articles. Since joining Windmore, she has continued to write fiction, poems, short stories, and memoirs. She is the facilitator for the Pen-to-Paper writers’ group, and she chaired several committees to publish anthologies for Windmore Foundation. She is a beta reader for several authors and is an editor for a romance author. Fran is also an active member of StageWorks Theatre Group of Windmore. She wrote one play that was performed by StageWorks featuring children and adults as actors. In addition, she directed one play performed at a dinner theater. She was a past member of the Board 2010-2016. Amanda Reck, Vice President, is currently serving her first year on the Board of Directors. She was involved in the Summer Musical Theater Camp in 2019 and planned to be the leader of the 2020 summer camp until it was postponed. She was the producer for the StageWorks production of The First Leon. She has been married to Patrick for 20 years. They have 5 children (4 girls and the youngest is a boy.) She worked for a large telecommunications company before becoming a stay at home parent and active volunteer. Locally, she has organized numerous kids’ art & craft events. For the past 10 years, she has coordinated large craft shows for local schools and churches as a fundraiser.  She is most proud of the two free clothing drives she organized and planned for those in need in Culpeper county. She brings over 20 years of experience to the board with her vast expertise volunteering for many organizations and nonprofits, serving as a board member, a coordinator, and a president. vp@windmorefoundation.org and summercamp@windmorefoundation.org

Laurel Van Horn, Secretary is a retired English teacher from Rappahannock County High School in Washington, Virginia. She has loved reading and writing and then teaching others to love reading and writing almost her whole life. She has been so grateful to discover Windmore’s wonderful activities over the past two years, after her husband, Dee, passed away in 2015. Since that time, all the great people she has met and worked within both Pen-to-Paper and StageWorks have been an inspiring comfort to her and continue to be so. Laurel enjoys writing poetry, short stories, and non-fiction articles, and she was thrilled to be the stage manager/stagehand for the popular StageWorks play Salt & Pepper recently. sect@windmorefoundation.org

Roy Carter, Treasurer retired after a 34-year career with Exxon-Mobil. He served as the treasurer of the Credit Union for the Syracuse Terminal, and as the treasurer for the Onondaga Ski Club. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Onondaga Ski Club for many years. He joined the Windmore Board eight years ago and was the treasurer for three years. He is currently serving his second term on the Board. He is a community supporter of the arts and has volunteered for all the divisions of Windmore Foundation. treasurer@windmorefoundation.org

Lynn Gore, Executive Director grew up in Culpeper and was excited to have the opportunity to move back to the community ten years ago. She has a Master of Music Composition degree from Middle Tennessee State University and an MBA in Marketing from the University of Memphis. Lynn has most recently been the General Manager and Advertising Director for the Culpeper Star-Exponent. She has worked for several large companies as a Marketing Executive leading database, production, and creative teams. Lynn is an active member of the Culpeper Baptist Church and sings with the Blue Ridge Chorale. Exec@windmorefoundation.org

Tammy Buckalew, Director, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English from James Madison University. She is currently a second-grade teacher in Culpeper County Public Schools. Tammy is a musician who plays the flute for the Piedmont Community Band of Virginia. She is also the treasurer of the band. Tammy has served as the Chair of the Education Committee of her church including creating and balancing the annual committee budget, evaluating and selecting materials for education programs, organizing and advertising activities and programs, as well as long-term planning. pcb@windmorefoundation.org

Donna Chabot, Director, is a former Windmore Foundation for the Arts (WFA) Board member having served seven years ending in June 2019. She is interested in al Arts with the main interest in theater. She loves living in Culpeper since moving here in 1988. She wants to serve on the Board to help keep the Arts alive in the five counties served by WFA. Email: dchabot@windmorefoundation.org

Dawnn Fletcher, Director has 20 years of experience playing music. She plays violin, viola, and cello. She has been teaching for 9 years. Dawnn has been the Director of the Crossroads Youth Orchestra for 2 years and currently teaches private lessons locally. Dawnn has a Bachelor’s degree in Instrumental Music and Music Theory from Bluefield College. She has performed with various symphonies in the Virginia area. dfletcher@windmorefoundation.org

Jessica Mahr, Director, has a Master’s degree in Arts Management and a Bachelors’ degree in technical theater. Mahr was a founding member of StageWorks when it was started in 2009. Her experience includes working as a theater teacher at the Madeira School, and being a stage manager professionally at a number of theaters in the DC area, having over 20 years’ experience in theater production. Her passion for productions was reignited while working on The First Leon with Windmore. She believers her education and knowledge of marketing and how to run an arts organization will be beneficial for Windmore as they move forward in the upcoming years and work to become even more active in the community. Gail Matthews, Director, a native South Carolinian, graduated from Winthrop College (presently Winthrop University) in Rock Hill and has a Master’s of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Instructional Technology from George Mason University. She moved to Virginia in the early 1980s. Gail retired from teaching in 2016 and now enjoys writing, painting, traveling, and working with the Windmore Foundation. webmaster@windmorefoundation.org
